This version fixes the Depth of Field (DoF) effect, the last huge “bug” of the mod in my opinion.
- Added an .ini setting for overriding the DoF resolution
- I also provide the option to completely disable DoF scaling. However, I don’t recommend that. I think the game looks better with DoF, and it’s the way From Software intended it. Also, disabling the DoF this way may actually reduce performance.

I found an new issue that appears with adding this, but so far it only happens to me.
Constant “blinking” I don’t know how else to put it. The screen goes black but only long enough that you just notice but it does extremely often. It’s like blinking at 3 times the fastest speed.
Also, the problem stays even if you stop playing. Only way to stop it is by restarting my computer. Trigger is definitely Dark Souls WITH the dynamic link library.

Some info I forgot: I have custom AA settings and vsync settings set in nvidia control panel (game is slow if the nvidia vsync is enabled)
I know this probably isn’t a priority, but is it possible to put something in the mod that removes those logos at the start when booting the game?
Has FPS problems running at 3840*2400 on a T221, previous patch did not..
Depth of field resolution seems to work alright.
Force windowed + present width/height at 3840*2400 and refresh rate at 75 hz causes the game to go into a window and then slowly scale upwards, and then ultimately crashes.

I have artifacts when using the 0.4 version.
it appears in the undead church as small “white dots” everywhere, on the walls, the floor, …
I tried revert to the 0.3 version but now those artifacts remain…
even after reinstalling the game there is no change.
Any idea?

I just checked some videos on youtube and it shows the same things.

Thanks so much for the fix, but does anyone have a solution to the mouse control problem? When I move the mouse quickly, the camera shifts at the same slow speed, but when I just barely move the mouse around, it moves and jitters quickly.

PLEASE, PLEASE figure out a way to disable the 15fps lock if you don’t get 30– this happpens all the time for me, and most of the time my fps is at 28-29 so I get auto-locked to 15, making the game a pain in the ass to play. I’m really happy I pirated the game to test it out, I’ll instabuy it ASAP if you fix this bug.

My computer have this Specification : Intel Corei7 2.67Ghz. Ram DDR 4GB. Graphics Card : HD5770. And Motherboard : Gigabyte X58-USB3. When I play this game it slows down. I think I have some framerate problem. Thats why I resetup my computer But nothing good happen. I Have used your Disfix0.4 Version . It works and it show graphically beautifull. But I cannot play the game fast. When the Action stars the game slows. What I do? Please tell me and give me the solution that how i play this game , use your mod and play fast mean normal speed… please reply me soon Because am very much keen to play this game.
well, actually, I got SSAO working with Nvidia Inspector :
I made a profile with DATA.exe.
Ambiant Occlusion compatibility : Elder Scrolls V : Skyrim
Ambiant Occlusion setting : High Quality
Ambiant Occlusion usage : Enable
The effect is very subtle, but noticeable, mostly in dark places and interiors.

Ur 0.4 mod is awesome but u should make optional options in there. I aint anything bad but some texture on my computer is too sharp and hurting my eyes. Would help if i could turn couple of things bit lower but keep up the work u should send ur mod to dev`s so that they can learn how to port
My computer is old and can’t run the game at higher resolutions, it would be cool if you could add support for smaller resolutions like 640×480 for those of us with crappy computers.

I know this may be asking for a lot. You’ve already done enough. Any way you think you can get the Xbox 360 wireless controller to work? Apparently this is plaguing a lot of users, including myself. Why doesn’t it work? It’s killing me. The GFWL button brings up the GFWL menu but the controller itself doesn’t work for any of the game.
I don’t think I can do anything about this — it’s working for me so I couldn’t even test it.

Do you have another controller or joystick plugged in? Try to unplug it.
Very stable..the 0.3 ver was causing serious frame rate drop in many areas and still some things seemed blurry im using geforce 450 gts btw. in 0.4 all this problems are solved for me no framerate drop and blurry things anymore.

Wouldn’t framerate upconversion work better than ordinary digital TV upconversion since you have Z-buffer data? Oh and it should precede Depth of Field ?

I would like to note that DSFix DOES NOT work well with AMD’s Trinity series APUs (Running the A10-4600M). With DSFix on, more areas drop frames to 15 fps and lock it there while without it on, several areas will actually go 25~30 fps.
However, testing on an AMD 965 Phenom II X4 + HD6870 runs flawlessly. If its a matter of how the APU’s are designed, is there a possible way to fix it then? Or must we wait until FPS is uncapped?
I think it’s simply a matter of fillrate/framebuffer bandwidth. My Fix is working fine, the APU just can’t handle the resolution.

It seems I cannot get rid of it anymore whatever I try (even reinstalling the game, removing the mod or deleting the config file from C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\NBGI\DarkSouls).
Also this has nothing to do with turning off the AA or blur ingame, it’s just that some setting got cached and I can’t seem to revert back to the original state.
For the AMD/ATI users, by accident I figured out why we are experiencing fps dips; the problem seems to be the Catalyst control center and/or ati driver. This might be an extreme measure but what I did to fix the fps dips (and fix my previous problem) is remove the complete ati driver (yes uninstall your card’s driver adapter as well in the device manager) and uninstall the catalyst control center, then let windows 7 reinstall your driver automatically and finally only reinstall the driver (not the catalyst control center). However this currently only works for my 4850HD (512MB).
I had the same problem with my AMD graphic card. Fixed by installing latest driver.

I *DO* have an Xbox 360 Trackball controller. It is much better than the standard controls. But damn those things are fucking annoying. I have been gaming for longer than any console since the Atari 2600 was even invented. And I use Keyboard and Trackball for everything.
Thank you for the fix to the games graphical bugs. But to me it is still unplayable simply because PC games are not supposed to be console games played on the PC with a console controller. This is no-ones fault but the people who did this shitty port.

First of all thank you very much for your contribution. I’m playing the game with mouse and keyboard and i’m already pretty far into it. I noticed the “auto lock” option has no effect and the target i lock sometimes changes automaticaly if there is some other target in the vecinity … it’s very annoying. Can it be fixed somehow? And also the diference in mouse sensitivity between moving the camera while standing and moving it while running is HUGEEEEEE and. Can this be fixed? Thank you.

Hey I’m having a problem when I tried using the mod for the game (Idk if it was the mod or not but that’s not really the problem) as soon as I installed the game and stuff I put the mod files in the installed location and all that. But when I was trying to play I couldn’t cause it kept being sluggish and would make my graphics card stop responding. I know it’s not the graphics card though cause I looked up a video on someone using the same one with like all my specs etc. And it was working fine for him. So I thought I would uninstall the mod and then try. But it won’t let me even after I deleted the files and everything it still shows the mod options for the resolution and stuff. I even uninstalled Dark Souls. Anyone know what the problem is? No matter what I do the mod stuff won’t go away
So i can’t see if that is the problem or not. Any suggestions would be nice.

I’m having a problem after installing this mod, I normally play on the 1440×900 resolution, but today my game suddenly starting having some FPS drops, whilst yesterday was an overall smooth experience. I tried installing this mode with the very same resolutions and ForceFullscreen for a better performance, but 10 seconds after the game starts running, the screen starts blinking and it keeps going all throughout the menus. Any help?
Hi Durante. Im just wondering if you are planning to fix the Optimus problem soon? Because I have kind of been putting off playing Dark Souls to much in hopes that there will be a patch and i will get to enjoy beautiful scenery too. If you arnt i would just like to know and i will just play anyway.

The issue is that it’s not a graphical problem. The method I’m currently using doesn’t really allow me to alter non-graphical stuff.

I used this but seeing odd lines on the intro logos. I do have AA and Blur off in option. The ingame looks fine, but doesn’t seem to improve quality nor performance. I’m using Radeon HD 5730 1GB

You know, at first I didn’t really get what the hubbub was all about. I thought the game looked fine as it was, but since the fix seemed harmless enough, I decided to give it a shot. After playing with it a while, I disabled it to see the difference, and there’s no way I could ever go back now. So again, thank you!
I have a laptop that comes with Optimus and I tried DSfix 0.1 to 0.4. With the mod no matter what I set in the NVIDIA control panel for both darksouls.exe and data.exe, it’s always using the integrated GPU to run instead. However without the mod it’ll use my delicated GPU to run like I assigned in the NVIDIA control panel.
If you could look into this I’ll be much appriciated and offer a few bucks for donation as well :).

I disagree, the first fix gives me much better performance on my low-end rig than the others because they are using brute-force methods to fix DoF/Messages that cuts my framerate.
I say they stay.
Maybe it would be more effective to just put a bolded note at the top saying the file is outdated? Then users would know to go get a newer version but the files would still be available…..
